Phoenix Convention Center

Booth Labor, Freight, Electrical

Phoenix takes a right-to-work stance, granting full-time exhibitor personnel the freedom to handle the installation and dismantling of all exhibit properties. Just make sure to carry company identification, such as a medical card or payroll stub.

  • Freight Movement: The Local #36 (IATSE) Union manages freight movement in and out of buildings, lays aisle carpet, and sets up pipe and drape for General Contractors.
  • Material Handling: Exhibitors can “hand carry” materials into the convention center, but using material handling equipment is a no-go. Stagehand Local #36 oversees material handling responsibilities beyond exhibitor tasks.
  • Electrical Labor: Electrical wiring under the carpet and facility overhead distribution require specialized labor. Electricians are a must for motor and equipment hook-ups, hard wiring connections, and installation/repair of electrical fixtures. Outlets over 20 amps or with a voltage over 150 volts necessitate electrical labor. Inspection is required for pre-wired equipment.
