Booth Labor, Freight, and Rigging

Freight handling is all about the Teamsters here. Now, when it comes to setting up exhibits, laying carpet, and all that decorator jazz, it’s the Painters and Allied Trades Union taking the stage. You can hire these pros through the general contractor or go independent with someone like Absolute I&D.

Rigging, on the other hand, falls under the Ironworkers Union, covering everything from unloading heavy machinery to hanging and assembling signs. Plumbers handle the plumbing business.

If you’re exhibiting in Dallas, you can bring in your tools to set up and dismantle your display. Small items can be hand-carried, but no hand carts or dollies, please!

Electrical

Electrical services get handled in-house at the Dallas Convention Center. Exhibitors can bring their own electrical cords (12-gauge, flat cords are the go-to). The power mostly comes from the floor, and only electricians can lay the cords and plug in the equipment. However, your installation and dismantle labor contractor might step in to hang light boxes and other small items. Exhibitors can tinker with their gear, but once again, it’s the electricians who do the plugging.
